Valerie is located in Spencer, Indiana. She is happily married to Brad and together, they have a daughter, Dorothy. Valerie grew up with a mom that owned her own Photography business and a strong family history of creating for generations. Valerie always loved to work with her hands and fell in love with teaching while sharing the joy of jump rope through her participation with the Indy Air Bear Jump Rope team and sport being involved for over 25 years.

Valerie got her teaching license in 2009 from Herron School of Art & Design at IUPUI. Over her 12 years of teaching, she loved working with students and watching them grow through their art. She stepped away from the classroom, but not teaching. She works as the Senior Manager of Professional Learning with Indianapolis Public Schools.

Valerie's grandma taught her how to crochet when she was 7 years old. Very basic crocheting, a chain and single crochet, but none the less it started a passion for creating. Valerie picked up a crochet hook from time to time while growing up making small simple items.  During the pandemic, Valerie needed to make herself busy while spending more time at home.  She wanted to become more present in her daughter's life and take a break from social media. She began crocheting as a way to keep her hands and mind busy while also constructing creatively
